Tubulin ExM
ExM visualization of the microtubule cytoskeleton
Tubulin ExM is a dedicated grafting reagent developed for the specific visualization and robust retention of the microtubule cytoskeleton in Expansion Microscopy. Based on taxane-derived chemistry, Tubulin ExM binds selectively to polymerized tubulin filaments and introduces a polymerizable acrylate group that covalently anchors microtubules into the hydrogel during gelation.
As a post-staining method, Tubulin ExM allows fluorescent dyes to be applied after gelation, digestion, or even expansion, ensuring maximum flexibility in experimental design. This approach eliminates dye loss during polymerization and digestion, providing brighter, more uniform labeling of microtubules and enabling clearer nanoscale imaging of filament organization.
